In this episode of The Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Podcast, Cory Ames interviews Jerusha Stewart and John Replogle of Take Your Seat and discusses the importance of diversity in board membership while reflecting on the current landscape of board diversity in America. “I think lack isn’t even a word. It’s more invisible, dismal,” Stewart says.

The current diversity of both for-profit and nonprofit boards does not reflect the diversity of America: People who identify with a race or ethnic group other than white comprise only 10% of board seats but make up 40% of Americans.

Black leaders hold just 4% of board seats and Black women only 1%.
