Happy Women’s History Month, when we also celebrate International Women’s Day.

We’re beyond proud to feature some of our awesome women-owned British Columbia-based Certified B Corporations. We also wanted to drop a few stats for you in honour of the day.

As B Local Vancouver celebrates Women’s History Month and B Corp Month this March, it’s essential to recognize the incredible contributions of women-owned businesses within the B Corp community.

Did you know that women-owned businesses are more likely to certify as B Corps? In fact, over 25% of B Corps are proudly women-owned.

This statistic speaks volumes about the dedication and commitment of women entrepreneurs to business practices that prioritize people and planet alongside profit. Women-owned B Corps are leading the charge toward a more sustainable and equitable future, setting a remarkable example for all businesses to follow.

Compared to ordinary businesses, B Corps globally are 1.6 times more likely to have Boards of Directors comprised of a women majority.

In 2022, 41% of new B Corps in the U.S. and Canada were women-owned businesses.

This year, the International Women’s Day theme is “Inspire Inclusion.” It’s a powerful call to action to create environments where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. As we reflect on this theme, we celebrate the diversity and inclusivity championed by women-owned B Corps. Their leadership and vision inspire us to foster cultures of inclusion, equity, and belonging within our own organizations and communities.

Let’s continue to uplift, support, and amplify the voices of women-owned businesses not just today, not just on March 8, but every day.

Together, we can inspire inclusion and create a world where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Happy International Women’s Day!

When women aren’t present, we must ask: “If not, why not?”

When women are discriminated against, we must call out poor practice.

When the treatment of women is not equitable, we must take action.

And we must do this each time, every time.
