Gold Coast Doulas is a birth and postpartum doula agency that supports families from conception through the first year with classes, overnight newborn support, daytime postpartum doulas, multiples care, sleep consulting, and an online birth and baby prep course called Becoming A Mother.

Each year Gold Coast Doulas — a Certified B Corporation based in Grand Rapids, Michigan— enlists the help of doulas, clients, and community partners to collect diaper donations for families in need. This year, for its eighth annual diaper drive, Gold Coast Doulas surpassed the goal of 10,000 diapers by bringing in 13,372 disposable diapers and 67 packs of wipes from over 20 drop-off locations throughout Michigan’s Gold Coast region. These diapers are packed in groups of 10 to distribute to families in need. They also collected used and new cloth diapers for families that preferred them.

Gold Coast Doulas started partnering with Nestlings | Diaper Bank of West Michigan and Great Start Parent Coalition in 2015 — the year Kristin Revere started the company. One of the agency’s first postpartum doulas had volunteered there before and mentioned the nonprofit to Revere when she was looking for a charity partner as part of the B Corp’s community impact program. The Diaper Bank was the perfect fit for Gold Coast Doulas’ focus on supporting low-income women and children.

Nearly half of U.S. families with young children struggle to afford diapers, and no government programs currently provide them. This rate increased from one in three in past years. Diapers are expensive, and many families make tough choices between paying rent and utilities or buying diapers. Research shows that 48% of parents delay changing diapers and 32% report reusing diapers to make supplies last longer.

Clean diapers make a significant impact on the health of new families, and our giving focus is on supporting low-income women and children.
